Nippon Chemi-Con Screw Terminal

ERWQ501LGC681MC65U

Nippon Chemi-Con RWQ screw-terminal capacitor, 680 uF at 500 V, Ø50 x 65 mm, 85 °C with high ripple for high-voltage DC links.

The ERWQ501LGC681MC65U is a Nippon Chemi-Con RWQ series screw-terminal aluminum electrolytic capacitor rated at 500 V with 680 uF, in a case of about 50 mm diameter by 65 mm long. It extends the RWQ range to the higher 500 V class, which suits power stages that run from a higher DC bus with margin for switching overshoot, such as large solar inverters, industrial converters and high-voltage motor drives. The RWQ series is downsized with a high ripple current rating, and a screw terminal accepts a busbar or heavy cable so the capacitor handles the high DC-link current without the lead limitations of a PCB part. The large can provides a thermal mass that helps dissipate the ripple heating, and the capacitor is rated 85 °C with a 2000-hour endurance at the rated ripple current over an operating range of -40 °C to +85 °C. It mounts with a clamp or a bottom stud and is rugged enough for industrial vibration. Because the voltage is higher, the capacitance per can is lower, so a bank of several capacitors is common to reach the required energy. Every capacitor BeiLuo ships is factory-traceable and includes an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS compliance file. Our FAE team can help size the bank and confirm the ripple and lifetime.

FAE Professional Review

The ERWQ501LGC681MC65U is the 500 V part we recommend for higher-bus inverters where a 350 V class would not have enough margin. The capacitance is lower at this voltage, so plan a bank and check the parallel current sharing and the total ripple. Keep the busbar and clamp design consistent across the bank.

Frequently Asked Questions

What projects suit the ERWQ501LGC681MC65U?

It suits designs with a higher DC bus that need a 500 V class with margin, such as large solar inverters, industrial converters and high-voltage drives. The 680 uF capacitance per can means a bank is common to reach the required energy.

Our FAE team can help size the bank.

How do I share current across a bank?

Paralleling capacitors shares the ripple current, so the total bank ripple is the sum of the individual ratings. Keep the busbar impedance balanced so the current shares evenly, and verify the ripple on each capacitor under load.

Our FAE team can review the bank layout.
